The triboelectric effect (also known as triboelectric charging) is a type of contact electrification in which certain materials become electrically charged after they come into contact with another different material through friction.

With these photographs, I attempt to visualize the micro and macrocosm of physical and virtual relationships. The triboelectric effect is a metaphor for our capacity to sustain a meaningful discourse with people in close proximity. This interaction deteriorates when people come to rely on communicating digitally, and our connection becomes displaced, yet increases at the same time.
